ive seen and used enough dpads and buttons to know that those are trash. 😑

SNES, Saturn, and psx are the best dpads I've had alot of experience with. these are dpads that i start playing and never "think about" the function or form of the dpad again the entire time. 👍

honorable mention to the snk style micro switch stick which is not a dpad but is a great 8 way digital control device. and the ps2 which is the only analog dpad i know about, and works great as well.

as a rule of thumb (har har,) controllers with the dpad in the "secondary position" always fail in the dpad design department. im my opinion, a dpad only works in primary position, or perhaps no one has found the right angle and design for one in secondary position.

I like small rocky click ones, like the sp, dsi, and 3ds. They feel more intuitive to me, almost like a joystick. The vita is pretty good too, but that's more of a hybrid. I grew up playing on an snes, but it broke so long ago now. I'm not fussed about position as long as the controller doesn't make my hand hurt. The dpad on this thing doesn't look like anything I've seen before though, very odd.
